1. Identify two costs that you may need to consider when developing a new phone app and explain how these costs impact on the project (6)

One cost may be the wage of the designer fo the app, either in terms of a graphic designer or someone who can code. They may be paid for the project as a whole or on an hourly rate. This might impact the project because if no one has those skills already they may need to pay a designer which will usually be expensive, which will eat into the budget. Finding the right designer for the right cost can be difficult which might also impact on time. 

Another cost might be to copyright the name of the app so that other people do not use it once it has been launched. This would impact the project positively so that the name cannot be copied. This does take time, however, so it might delay the project if they needed to wait for this to happen. 

One cost might be to pay for market research to be completed on the product before the release or at the point of release to gain feedback from the target audience. A company could be paid, or a person could be asked to undertake this hourly rate. Impact on the project would be positive because it would be clear as to how the product is being received by the target audience, ensuring that any amendments and improvements can be made in time for a launch deadline. Paying an individual would potentially be cheaper, but paying a company is likely to be quicker.

Applying for copyright will take some time which will effect the scheduling of the project.

2. Identity one act of legislation that is applicable to the creation of a new national newspaper and explain what impact it has (3)

Libel - The Defamation Act 2013 which reformed English defamation law on issues of the right to freedom of expression and the protection of reputation.

5. Identify two ethical issues that you would need to consider before your team develops ideas for a documentary on refugees. Explain how these will impact on the project. (8)

One mark for each ethical issue, three marks for explanation on impact of project.

QUESTION 5: MY ANSWER

Ethical issues are issues that you must consider when creating a project that includes sensitive content. 

For example, one ethical issue that you would need to consider would be including children in the documentary, as they are too young to provide consent their parents would need to provide consent for them. This would impact the project because some parents may not be present to give consent and so would create a time constraint on the project as it takes time to retrieve the consent forms, delaying the project past its final due date. 

Similarly, another ethical issue that could impact the project is having a language barrier between the crew and the cast in the documentary. This would impact the project as they would need to buy in an interpreter(s) to translate for the crew, this costs money and takes time to translate between filming.
