The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the self-regulatory organisation of the advertising industry in the United Kingdom. The ASA is a non-statutory organisation and so cannot interpret or enforce legislation. However, its code of advertising practice broadly reflects legislation in many instances.

ASA:
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the self-regulatory organisation of the advertising industry in the United Kingdom. The ASA is a non-statutory organisation and so cannot interpret or enforce legislation. However, its code of advertising practice broadly reflects legislation in many instances.
BBFC: (British Board of Film Classification)
- The BBFC has a statutory requirement to all video works released on DVD, VHS Blu-Ray and to lesser extent some video games under the Video Recording Act 1984.
- It is a self funded QUANGO (non-government organisation)
- Business affairs controlled by a council. This council appoints a president with the statutory responsibility for the classification of videos and a Director who has executive responsibility and formulates policy.
- Financed by the fees it charges to classifying films and is run as a non-profit organisation.
- Make sure that the film has the appropriate age restriction so it reaches the widest possible audience.
- They make sure the film abides with the law.
- They use published classification guidelines to regulate films.
(PEGI) VSC: (Video Standard Council)
- Is an administrator of the PEGI age rating system for video games.
- The creator sends in a detailed account of all that is in the game. Then the creator is provided with a provisional rating which can be used for advertising. Then the developer provides them with evidence for their assessment answers (includes video footage and and a copy of the game). The game is then analysed and given its final age rating.
- It is responsible for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.
- Used in over 30 countries.
OFCOM and IPSO:

PRS: They license the use of those who are members' of prs music by businesses, online, in broadcasts and film, for live performance and and as recorded products. They have representation agreements with societies in 100 countries so that their members can be paid for music use outside of the UK. And they pay royalties to their members for the use of their work while protecting the future of music through partnerships, technology and influencing policy.
W3C: The world wide web consortium is an international community where member organisations, a full time staff, and the public work together to develop web standards, led by web inventor and director Tim Berners-Lee and CEO Jeffrey Jaffe. Their mission is to lead the web to it's full potential as it has transformed the way we communicate with each other, in doing so, it has also modified the nature of our social relationships.
